The story behind the cocktail

This is a classic cocktail that started out in Chicago at a time when bourbon, cognac and rum were interchangeable. Finally, as befits the USA, the recipe settled on bourbon or rye whiskey, as the basis for the cocktail, and in recent years has made a comeback on the networks mainly because of the addition of red wine, which creates a twilight effect on the drink. I chose to include this cocktail in the series quite naturally. The use of vermouth wines in cocktails is one of my signature drinks. I appreciate the division and balance of combining wines in cocktails. In this case, the cocktail receives the addition of Merlot wine from Golan Winery.
